Newcastle agree Anthony Gordon transfer from Everton for £45m |
Newcastle have agreed to sign Anthony Gordon from Everton this January transfer window.
The Magpies have been handed a £40m fee from The Toffees for the winger, plus £5m in add-ons, talkSPORT understands after the player made it clear he wanted a move.
After negotiating a payment of £5million at the start of negotiations, all parties have now reached an agreement.
It has further been reported that a deal could be officially announced over the weekend, giving Newcastle ample time for Gordon to potentially be ready to make the squad to face Southampton in their half’s second leg. -Carabao Cup final.
The England Under-21 international was desperate for a move to Newcastle, missing training several times this week.
Gordon had been given approved leave on Monday but was unable to return on Tuesday and Wednesday as he sought to force a switch after reports emerged Everton were looking for £60million, which was ridiculed by Simon Jordan.
Instead, the Merseyside club will receive £45million in a structured deal as Eddie Howe gets his man.
It was a deal that suddenly accelerated after slow negotiations throughout the week and it was only earlier on Friday that Everton and Newcastle were haggling over £5million.

Neither side seemed ready to budge, talkSPORT understood, until a breakthrough was made this afternoon.
Football correspondent Alex Crook told talkSPORT’s White and Jordan programme: “I have just received a message that at the moment the two clubs Newcastle and Everton are £5m apart in terms of fees. .
“So it doesn’t seem insurmountable, although the message goes on to say that neither side is moving at this stage.
“So there you have it, fresh off the press. Everton and Newcastle are £5m apart in terms of the valuation of Anthony Gordon, who badly wants that move to St. James’ Park.
Recently sacked manager Frank Lampard did his best to keep Gordon last summer when Chelsea tried to sign him and a £60m offer was in the works.
However, a transfer didn’t go through and Everton were desperate for the youngster to sign a new contract to stave off interest, but Newcastle’s attention swayed his head.
Gordon has made 18 appearances this season, scoring three goals and will add to Howe’s firepower alongside Callum Wilson, Alexander Isak, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron.
Newcastle are in contention for Champions League football this season and sit third in the table while Everton struggle to stay in the Premier League, languishing in 19th place.
