Governor Tutuba said this while handing over to Dr. Nchemba, sample banknotes of 10,000, 5,000, 2,000 and 1,000 shillings, at the sub-offices of the Ministry of Finance, in Dar es Salaam, in accordance with the laws and procedures governing financial matters in the country.
"Mr. Minister, I am pleased to inform you that our exercise of reprinting banknotes with references to the 2010 issue, has been completed and we have already informed the public through a statement I issued through the Government Gazette," said Governor Tutuba.
Governor Tutuba explained that the notes will be used in parallel with the existing notes, they have the appearance of the current notes issued in 2010, including security features, size, color and other aspects, except for the changes in the signature of the Minister of Finance, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Tanzania.
"The signature of the former Minister of Finance who is currently the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Philip Isdor Mpango has been changed to your signature Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba and the signature of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Tanzania who retired, Prof. Florens Luoga, has been changed to the signature of the current Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Emmanuel Tutuba," he added
Speaking after receiving samples of the new notes, the Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, thanked President @samia_suluhu_hassan for allowing this to happen and congratulated the Governor of the Central Bank of Tanzania, Mr. Emmanuel Tutuba, for overseeing the printing process of the notes with great professionalism and integrity.
